There’re Always Paranoid Thoughts to Monopolize Me - Chapter 34.1
For several seconds after Huo Jun finished speaking, Qin Ke didn’t say a word.
Just as she was about to speak, a voice suddenly interrupted her—
“Big brother, are you playing the ‘whoever blinks first loses’ game with the pretty sister?”
“…”
Huo Jun and Qin Ke turned around together, only to see the 12 or 13-year-old boy who was previously following Huo Jingyan now standing innocently beside them, looking at them.
Huo Jun, being interrupted at his most extreme moment, quickly had his cold ferocity cover his pitch-black pupils.
He turned to the young boy.
“Call me that again, and do you believe I’ll hit you?”
“…!”
The young boy trembled in fear.
Qin Ke thought he would turn and run away. Unexpectedly, after the young boy reacted, he swiftly hid behind her.
“N-no… you can’t…”
Huo Jun’s cold eyes swept over him.
“Why not?”
“Pretty sister… Pretty sister is here, you… you won’t hit anyone.”
“…”
Huo Jun’s gaze froze.
After a moment, he narrowed his eyes slightly, looking even fiercer.
“Who told you that?”
The young boy swallowed, “T-Teacher Huo said so…” As he spoke, he carefully pointed to the side.
Qin Ke, surprised by his words, also looked over, and along with Huo Jun, saw Huo Jingyan standing at the end of the long corridor.
Seemingly aware of their gaze, Huo Jingyan, who was patiently talking to an elderly white-haired lady, straightened up. His gaze, gentle and smiling, met theirs, and then he raised his hand to wave at them.
The young boy timely added.
“Teacher Huo also said, if I want to learn how to fight from you, I should stick to the pretty sister. He said you only listen to the pretty sister.”
Huo Jun: “……”
Qin Ke’s expression became a bit uncomfortable.
She turned her head back to look at Huo Jun, expecting to see signs of displeasure or even anger. However, to her surprise, the young man in her view had a subtly cold look in his eyes for a few seconds, then suddenly let out a light snort.
Huo Jun’s gaze finally fell back on Qin Ke.
He stared at her intently, and when he spoke again, his tone was unhurried and meaningful—
“Yes, he’s right.”
“I only listen to one person.”
“…”
Being stared at by those pitch-black eyes for so long, Qin Ke inexplicably felt her face heating up.
She uncomfortably turned her gaze away and started to walk to the side.
Seeing this, the young boy panicked and quickly chased after her—
“Pretty sister, pretty sister, wait for me!”
Before he could finish his words, the hood of the young boy’s hoodie was pinched by a long-fingered hand from behind, leisurely pulling him back.
“…” The young boy turned back trembling, “B-big brother…”
Huo Jun almost laughed at this address.
“You can follow her, but don’t touch her — not even pulling her sleeve, understand?”
The young boy: “…?”
Out of survival instinct, the young boy still nodded vigorously, “Understand, understand, understand.”
“…”
Huo Jun smiled lazily, turning back and casually slipping his released hand back into his pocket.
Watching the young boy hurriedly chase after and successfully position himself between Qin Ke and Huo Jingyan, Huo Jun let out a satisfied snort.
****
As evening approached, Huo Jingyan proactively suggested treating the three to dinner at a small restaurant near the art plaza.
The young boy naturally jumped up and down excitedly, shouting his agreement; Qin Ke, her goal not yet achieved, hesitated for a moment before agreeing as well.
The young boy hesitantly looked at Huo Jun. “Big brother, are you coming?”
“…”
Huo Jun, almost numb to this form of address by now, looked up with a cold, pale, handsome face, expressionlessly glancing at the young boy.
Seeing the young boy about to shrink behind Qin Ke again, Huo Jun finally withdrew his gaze indifferently.
“Free dinner, of course I’ll eat.”
At the end of his words, he cast a slightly cold sidelong glance at Huo Jingyan.
The street near the art plaza was a small food street somewhat famous in Qian City.
Although the shops were small, most were clean.
Huo Jingyan led the three “students” of varying ages to one of the shops. After queuing for about ten minutes, they finally got their table number.
The young boy wasn’t shy at all, constantly calling “Big brother, big brother,” making Qin Ke worry that the three of them looked like child kidnappers.
With Huo Jingyan present, Qin Ke never seemed to need to worry about awkward silences or lulls in conversation — she remembered from her previous life that Huo Jingyan was like an all-knowing encyclopedia, able to talk knowledgeably about any topic.
The young boy, already like a fanboy, seemed to be completely captivated by Huo Jingyan after the dinner.
Huo Jun’s expression, however, grew increasingly somber.
His gaze towards Huo Jingyan was undisguisedly hostile.
—
Knowing that most of the reasons stemmed from herself, Qin Ke felt very helpless.
Before dinner ended, Huo Jingyan stood up to pay the bill.
The restaurant owner was a plump middle-aged woman, looking to be in her forties. She had been paying attention to this table since earlier — except for the young boy, the other three’s appearances had practically doubled her customer count.
“Are these your three children?” the owner asked Huo Jingyan with a smile while processing his payment. “The older boy and girl are so beautiful, they could be sent to become celebrities, right?”
Hearing this, Huo Jingyan just smiled, gentle as jade, without explaining.
“The little one hasn’t grown up yet, who knows, he might be good-looking when he grows up.”
The owner gave him a thumbs up.
“I understand, with your genes as a father, the little one will definitely grow up handsome too.”
