Tokyo's Most Affectionate - Chapter 28
Kurosawa Hikaru’s Weakness
Akai left the study and went directly to prepare dinner.
Kurosawa perked up his ears, listening to the fading footsteps outside. He waited until the maid was gone before picking up the water on the table and drinking it in one gulp.
“Take a break.”
After drinking half a cup of water, Kurosawa leaned back and stretched lazily.
“A break?”
Shiromiya turned her head. Her beautiful eyes remained calm and expressionless, revealing no emotions or thoughts.
“These past few days have been tiring. Since Miss Akai isn’t here, let’s take a break for a while,” Kurosawa nodded and casually said.
“Your break time is in another half hour,” Shiromiya expressed dissatisfaction with his decision to stop.
“Don’t be so rigid. If I rest, you can rest too,” Kurosawa shrugged.
In fact, he wasn’t tired. Thanks to the system rewards for leg techniques, archery, parkour, and similar activities, his body had become significantly stronger, and he felt energetic.
The reason he wanted to take a break was simply to encourage the student to rest a bit more.
Apart from that, he had another idea in mind for the weekend date and wanted to experiment.
“…”
Hearing this, Shiromiya opened her mouth, gripping the pen in her hand, showing a hint of hesitation and uncertainty.
Resting was an extremely tempting word for her.
“Have you practiced archery?”
At that moment, Kurosawa reached out and forcefully took the pen from her hand.
“What do you want?” Shiromiya, noticing this, immediately shook her hand to resist such contact.
Even though her arms were slender and delicate, she had considerable strength, but Kurosawa didn’t exert much force.
“Have you practiced archery?”
Taking away her pen and successfully interrupting her study, Kurosawa didn’t make any further moves. Instead, he looked at her hands.
It had to be admitted that her hands were beautiful, even without any embellishments like nail art.
The skin was smooth and snowy white, and her fingers were slender and delicate, indicating a life of pampering and regular care.
“…”
With no pen in her hand, Shiromiya stiffened for a moment, feeling somewhat unaccustomed.
Her life was meticulously planned, and every moment was scheduled for specific activities. The unexpected break disrupted her planned and anticipated routine.
“I see marks on your fingertips; those are signs of prolonged archery practice.”
Seeing her silent, Kurosawa’s gaze swept over the spaces between her fingers.
“On which day do you practice archery? As far as I know, you dance on Monday, focus on academics on Tuesday, play the violin on Wednesday, academic studies on Thursday, and practice tea ceremony on Friday.”
Noticing her continued silence, Kurosawa continued to inquire.
Mirai Shiromiya ignored his incessant chatter and waited until he stopped.
“Where do you practice archery?”
“Here?”
“How much free time do you have every week?”
“…”
“Say something. Staying silent during break time, don’t you find it boring? We have less than half an hour for small talk.” Kurosawa expressed some helplessness.
“I don’t have break time,” Shiromiya finally spoke.
“I’m tutoring you academically from 6:30 to 7:30, isn’t that considered a break?” Kurosawa paused at her words, feeling a bit sad and surprised.
For him, that was the break time from his part-time job.
“No,” Shiromiya said indifferently.
“Why not? You only spend 10 minutes eating, and then you have 50 minutes in your room, right?” Kurosawa felt curious.
Suddenly, he realized that, although he had known this student for more than a year, his understanding of her was minimal.
“During those 50 minutes, I apply body lotion, do daily flexibility stretches, and then take a shower.”
Shiromiya’s red eyes stared at Kurosawa.
“Why are you staring at me like that? Relax a little.” Sensing her intense gaze, Kurosawa reassured her.
“I’m wondering what kind of trick you’re playing. You’re getting paid to tutor me, and if my mom finds out about your lack of enthusiasm, you’ll be fired.”
Shiromiya didn’t care about his appearance at all; she spoke calmly.
There could be no relationship between her and this teacher.
Once her college entrance exams were over, this teacher would disappear from her life, ushering in a new phase with a different teacher, just like before.
“You don’t say anything and I don’t either. If Miss Akai isn’t here, how would your mom find out?” Kurosawa naturally understood this principle and wasn’t concerned at all.
“There’s surveillance in this room. As long as she checks, she’ll find out.”
Upon hearing this, Shiromiya turned her head to look at the wall.
What?
Following her gaze, Kurosawa indeed saw a surveillance camera in the corner behind the bookshelf, and he couldn’t help but be surprised.
The next moment, he wasn’t lazily sitting anymore; he straightened up, leaned over the desk.
“Why didn’t you mention there’s surveillance?”
Kurosawa picked up the notebook again, pretended, and lowered his voice.
“I thought you knew.”
Seeing him suddenly startled, Shiromiya’s lips curved with a barely noticeable smile.
“So you were silent just now because you just couldn’t understand why I was still slacking off even though I knew there was surveillance?”
Kurosawa’s eyes were keen, sensing her gloating smile, suddenly understanding many things.
“Yes.” Shiromiya picked up the pen again.
“Is your mom some kind of control freak? Having a maid to supervise is one thing, but installing surveillance cameras is another level,” Kurosawa expressed his exasperation.
To be honest, even though he had been teaching for more than a year, he hadn’t noticed the surveillance cameras. The cameras were quite discreet.
Ultimately, it was because he naturally assumed that the supervision by Akai was the only monitoring.
“It’s to prevent any accidents when the maid leaves, and I’m alone with someone else.”
“What kind of accidents could happen? This is just control. When your identity card, residence, phone, and even your hometown are all investigated, and every piece of information is crystal clear, no one dares to threaten your safety. And you, just now, taking my pen… Oh right, because you’re too clueless, not knowing about the surveillance.”
Sitting in front of the desk, pretending to be casual, Shiromiya became more talkative, and her words increased.
Ultimately, it was because Kurosawa forcibly taking her pen became leverage.
As long as she mentioned it to her mom, that this teacher wasn’t teaching seriously, combined with the evidence from the surveillance, he would be fired.
“I only took away your pen; I didn’t harm you.”
Kurosawa was righteous. He had thought carefully before acting, and if taking a pen was considered harm, that would be ridiculous.
“How is there no harm?”
“Where is the harm?”
“My body is unharmed, but to my delicate soul, you’ve caused a very serious injury.”
“You’re exaggerating.”
“Not at all. You frightened me.”
“You’re that cowardly?”
“It’s because you were too forceful.”
“…”
Kurosawa wanted to refute this statement but didn’t know what to say. It seemed like there was some truth to it.
He saw the young miss frozen and unresponsive, so he had resorted to force.
“No more words, huh?”
Seeing him at a loss for words, Shiromiya found it amusing and smirked, wearing the expression of a victor.
