Chapter 37: Black and White Pair

After selecting the jade stones, Fu Lang took them to a renowned carving shop on Han City’s Jade Street.

“Boss, make the patterns as intricate and exquisite as possible. They’re gifts!”

He couldn’t let little Su Bao think her flamboyant brother was cheap!

He needed the best jade stones and the most delicate carving!

Whenever Fu Lang gave gifts to women, he couldn’t help but show off.

The carving shop owner examined the jade stones, “When do you need them by?”

“As soon as possible!” Since it concerned his life, the sooner the better, or someone might die, “Preferably within the next two days.”

The middle-aged shop owner shrugged, “That might not be possible. Intricate patterns take time. In two days, I can only do common designs.”

Fu Lang thought it over.

His life was more important.

He’d give Xiao Bao some common ones first, and if he survived, he could give her better ones later!

“Then just do the common ones!”

“Okay.” The shop owner took the jade stones and went inside to prepare his tools.

His attitude was indifferent, not giving Fu Lang any special treatment despite his expensive attire worth tens of thousands.

In the jade business, fortunes could change with a single cut. The owner had seen billionaires one day begging the next, so he didn’t bother pleasing anyone.

Before leaving the shop, Fu Lang noticed a pair of fist-sized stones at the entrance.

He became interested and called into the shop, “Boss, are you running a carving shop and gambling on stones too?”

The owner came out, holding a small file.

“Oh, a while back, an unlucky guy in the jade business ended up with a pile of worthless stones. He spent billions on raw stones but didn’t find a single decent one, so he went bankrupt. He owed me money, so he used these stones to settle his debt.”

These fist-sized stones were unlikely to yield any jade!

They were meant to fool outsiders!

The debt wasn’t much, so he kept them around.
