- Chapter 3 - High-Tier Sequence! Exceptional Admission?
“Shapeshifting pet beasts? Isn’t that a privilege exclusive to the top 100 sequences on the rankings!?”
“My god! What kind of luck does one need to achieve that? A high-tier sequence pet starts at a valuation of at least a billion at the Pet Beast Association!”
“No wonder the Blazing Gold Lion couldn’t even struggle—it ran into a serious powerhouse!”
“Hah, mocking someone for not having a beast-taming talent. Talk about self-important! That’s a high-tier sequence pet. If anyone lacks talent, it’s you!”
“What’s even worse is, it’s gorgeous too. Compared to mine, ugh, I could grind my teeth to pieces! Why does all the luck go to someone else and not me?”
The drastic difference between Alia’s current appearance and her previously well-known image made it hard for anyone to recognize her. Even the staff at the registration booth found her familiar but couldn’t quite place her.
Though, realistically, her identity wouldn’t stay hidden for long.
Jiang Ying was utterly stunned.
She had just dumped Su Yu yesterday. Today, she deliberately dressed in a revealing, sultry outfit to cozy up to Young Master Wang for better beast resources.
Yet, less than 24 hours later, Su Yu showed up in front of her with a high-tier sequence pet beast.
Looking back, she really did seem like a clown, overestimating her importance in front of Su Yu.
Wang Hongxi, despite his pain, scrutinized Alia’s stunning face and immense power. Gritting his teeth through the agony, he spoke, “Miss, I don’t blame you. Leave Su Yu and come with me!”
“Su Yu is just a poor loser; there’s no way he can provide for you. My Wang family has endless beast-taming resources. Follow me, and you’ll never suffer a loss!”
Even though his legs were in unbearable pain and his heart burned with resentment toward both Alia and Su Yu, the prospect of possessing such a powerful pet beast—and the chance to steal her from Su Yu—made it all worth it.
Alia furrowed her delicate brows. “Disgusting. This queen’s lover is, and will forever be, only one person.”
“Your filthy blood is revolting.”
Alia clenched her hands, and Wang Hongxi felt as though the blood from a certain part of his body was being completely drained. An intense wave of pain followed.
“Ahh! You… how dare you—”
The crowd stared in shock. Many felt their legs trembling uncontrollably.
“Holy crap, that’s brutal!”
“Will he… still be able to use it?”
“Probably not, right? It’s likely necrotic and will have to be amputated.”
“So much blood loss… he’s done for.”
At last, one of the registration teachers, Ding Li, reluctantly stepped forward.
It was one thing to have petty fights, but if someone were actually killed, dealing with Wang Hongxi’s uncle, the dean, would not be a pleasant task.
“Student, please stop. This is the university entrance, not a gladiator arena.”
Su Yu glanced at Alia, who loosened her grip. The blood throne dissolved into a pool of liquid, and the blood bindings on Wang Hongxi were lifted.
He collapsed to the ground in pain while the two bodyguards accompanying him hurried over to help him up.
“Su Yu… and you… just wait.” Before he could finish his sentence, he passed out cold.
As the bodyguards carried him away, Ding Li sighed, “Ah, you’ve stirred up trouble for yourselves.”
Su Yu shook his head. “I was just acting in self-defense.”
“May I still register for admission?”
Ding Li nodded quickly. “Yes.”
“Student, although your talent report is empty, the fact that you’ve gained the favor of a high-tier sequence pet beast qualifies you for exceptional admission!”
“This is your admission certificate. Tomorrow, there will be an entrance test to determine your academy placement and resource allocation. You can review this handbook for relevant beast-taming knowledge.”
“Understood.”
After taking the handbook, Su Yu was about to leave when he turned around and saw Alia staring at Jiang Ying with a scrutinizing gaze:
“You’re really not much to look at, are you? Aside from having a slightly bigger face, I can’t figure out why Master would’ve been interested in you before.”
“You—” Jiang Ying’s face turned bright red.
To be fair, Jiang Ying was an attractive woman, perhaps an 8 out of 10, but standing next to Alia, she was utterly overshadowed.
She was shorter by half a head, and in terms of figure, facial features, and overall aura, the gap was glaringly obvious.
“Su Yu, is this your revenge?”
Huh?
What kind of twisted logic is that?
Su Yu scratched his head. “I didn’t even expect to run into you guys.”
“We’re already over, aren’t we?”
“Why don’t you stop clinging to me for a change?”
Jiang Ying found herself at a loss for words. Everything she said earlier felt like a boomerang, now hitting her squarely in the face.
For the first time, she was truly shaken. “You… hmph, you were so calm yesterday—turns out you’d already hooked up with her, hadn’t you?!”
“Scumbag!”
“Don’t get cocky, Su Yu! With your pathetic family background, it’s a miracle she’s even interested in you! Can you afford to keep her? She’ll leave you sooner or later!”
Su Yu’s brow furrowed. Just as he was about to respond, Alia interrupted, “Oh, money? Don’t worry, this big sister has plenty of that.”
“I can absolutely afford to take care of Master~”
Alia held up a gold ring engraved with the Pet Beast Association’s emblem, letting it gleam in the light.
Jiang Ying was completely stunned, rendered speechless.
The surrounding onlookers immediately recognized it. “Wait a second! Isn’t that the proof of membership from the Pet Beast Association for spending over ten billion yuan? She’s loaded!”
“My god! They always say pet beasts are money pits, but look at her—she provides for herself and her Beastmaster!”
“How is this even fair? I bet she wasn’t hatched from a pet egg; she must’ve already been a highly capable humanoid beast before this!”
“Sis, please, take me in too!”
Alia shot the crowd a cold glare and snorted. “Scram, you mongrels.”
“Your blood reeks.”
She pulled Su Yu away from the crowd. The male onlookers, however, didn’t seem the least bit offended by her insult.
“Even the way she insults us sounds beautiful!”
“Damn that freshman Su Yu! I’m so jealous I could faint.”
“Tsk tsk, the Wang family is notoriously petty. They’ll definitely seek revenge. Honestly, Su Yu’s entrance test tomorrow might—”
“Everyone on campus will probably show up to watch. Hopefully, it doesn’t escalate too far.”
“By the way, don’t you think that high-tier sequence pet beast looks a bit like Alia Tepes from Magic City Beastmaster University?”
On the way home, having pushed through the crowd, Su Yu smiled. “Thank you.”
Alia’s crimson hair swayed as the little tuft on top bounced slightly. “Hm? Thank me for what?”
“For standing up for me.”
Alia tilted her head. “Humans really are hard to understand.”
Su Yu was a bit surprised. Did she not grasp human emotions?
“Then why did you stand up for me?”
Alia made a thoughtful face. “Hmm, hearing them talk about you like that made me upset, so I just acted without thinking. I figured it would make you happy if I did.”
Su Yu felt a warmth in his chest.
Perhaps this was how a Vampire Queen showed her love.
Free from human deceptions and pretenses, her sincerity shone through.
And come to think of it, she treated everyone else with disdain but was remarkably kind to him.
Alia chuckled softly. “This queen read in a book that humans usually give gifts to express gratitude, correct?”
Su Yu smiled. “Sure, Alia. What gift would you like? I’ll do my best to get it for you.”
“I’m hungry.”
“… This—” Su Yu clutched his waist.
To be fair, last night had been the most enjoyable experience of his life.
But surely, this couldn’t go on, right?
With righteous determination, Su Yu declared, “Miss Alia, I must correct your flawed values! As a young lady, you should show some restraint!”
Alia looked at Su Yu in confusion. “I don’t understand. Don’t you want to enjoy yourself with me?”
Su Yu stood firm. As a man with strong moral principles, he would not waver so easily!
“Of course I do.”
