Genius Trainee: My Husband Isn't Human - Chapter 3
The two took a taxi to Twilight Bar. Luo Jingcha looked out the window—S City was still S City, but she barely recognized the urban layout.
These past two days, she had looked up the location of the car accident and discovered that the Lianjiang Bridge from her world had been built as a pier in this one. The Twilight Bar, which Feng Yijun had reserved, was near this pier.
Twilight Bar was located alongside the Lian River and reportedly had over ten years of history. The area was in the suburbs with few passersby, yet the bar had survived in such an environment for so long—the owner behind it must be extraordinary.
After entering the bar, Zhang Leyan clung to Luo Jingcha’s arm, hiding behind her, both frightened and curious as she surveyed this peculiar bar. Lowering her hat, she whispered, “If my parents knew I was at a place like this so late at night, they’d break my legs for sure.”
“Aren’t you living in the company dormitory now?”
Luo Jingcha remarked casually as she walked to the bar counter and sat down. With curved eyes, she said to the bartender, “Two mojitos, please, thank you.”
Luo Jingcha’s appearance was naturally cold, but when she smiled, there was considerable sweetness to it. Although bartenders typically disliked making mojitos because they were time-consuming, this face was enough to offset any impatience. The bartender smiled elegantly and said, “Just a moment, beautiful. Coming right up!”
Zhang Leyan stared in amazement, watching her natural and practiced movements. “How are you so familiar with this?” she asked in surprise.
She had known Luo Jingcha for so long yet never thought she was the type to frequent bars.
Luo Jingcha took the mojito from the bartender and took a small sip without answering. What could she say? How could she be the same when even her soul was different?
As she sat, she began to survey the Twilight Bar—the bloody decorative style, the crowd twisting in the dance floor to the music, and the men and women scattered around indulging in drink and pleasure—all exuding a restless and violent atmosphere that reminded her of a mysterious and dangerous creature: a vampire.
At that moment, a girl in a nearby booth suddenly noticed them and exclaimed in surprise, “Why are they here?”
Feng Yijun, who had just cut her cake and was being surrounded by people wishing her well, frowned with displeasure at the interruption. “What’s wrong?”
The girl quickly went over and pointed at Luo Jingcha and her friend, saying, “Yijun, look over there. Why are they here?”
Everyone looked over at her words and began to mock the two. “These country bumpkins, dressed like that to attend Yijun’s birthday party. Aren’t they embarrassed?”
The class Luo Jingcha was in consisted of trainees from various companies. Most of the students came from well-off families, were sophisticated, and knew how to dress well. Luo Jingcha didn’t come from a wealthy family, and her casual clothes were from ordinary brands. Her simple attire naturally didn’t meet their standards.
Their arrival made Feng Yijun’s expression increasingly unpleasant. Seeing this, the girl flatteringly said, “Don’t be upset, Yijun. I’ll go drive them away right now!”
Feng Yijun nodded and cut a piece of cake for her, saying, “Since they’re here, we can’t let them leave empty-handed. Give them this piece of cake.”
Having been her follower for two years, the girl naturally understood her meaning. She took the cake with a cold smile and walked toward the two.
“Today is Yijun’s birthday. Who gave you permission to come?” the girl said as she approached them.
Because Luo Jingcha could multitask mentally, Xiao Luo could also instantly understand what was happening in the outside world through her consciousness.
Luo Jingcha asked her, “Was this person involved in the group assault that day?”
Xiao Luo hesitated before saying, “Yes… most of the wounds on my body were inflicted by her.”
Hearing this, Luo Jingcha raised her eyebrows slightly, completely ignoring the girl’s words as she continued talking to Zhang Leyan.
Seeing herself being ignored, the girl grew angry and raised her voice, “I’m talking to you! Are you deaf?”
Luo Jingcha still ignored her.
“You!”
Enraged, the girl threw the cake at her, but Luo Jingcha had anticipated this and slightly shifted her body to avoid it.
Only then did she turn around, looking at the girl with a bewildered expression, “Are you playing a cake-smashing game? Why would you throw away a perfectly good cake? Such a waste.”
Her tone was incredibly innocent. The girl’s anger rose, and her language became increasingly offensive. “You two country bumpkins, do you even belong in a place like this? Get out now, or don’t blame me for getting nasty!”
But Luo Jingcha remained calm, asking with curiosity, “Didn’t Yijun invite the whole class to celebrate her birthday? Why wouldn’t I belong?”
Hearing this, the girl sneered, “When Yijun said the whole class, she certainly didn’t include you two. If you can’t even figure that out, you probably can’t even afford a beer here. Do you think you belong?”
Luo Jingcha pondered for a moment, then smiled and said, “I probably really can’t afford it. But I think if I were to wag my tail to please the master every day like you do, I might be able to afford it.”
“Are you calling me a dog?!” The girl’s eyes widened.
“That’s your own interpretation.”
“You! You’re asking for a beating!”
The girl hadn’t expected that Luo Jingcha, who was usually so timid around her, would dare to insult her. Angry, she swung her palm towards Luo Jingcha’s face. What she hadn’t anticipated was that Luo Jingcha would fight back—her hand was caught mid-air by Luo Jingcha.
Luo Jingcha gripped her wrist and yanked her forward. As the girl stumbled toward her, Luo Jingcha stepped slightly to the side and kicked hard at the girl’s outstretched right leg. The girl lost her balance and fell heavily to the ground, her face landing right on the piece of cake she had thrown earlier.
Zhang Leyan burst into laughter at this sight. “Hahaha, this is too funny! Is this what they call ‘dog eats shit’?”
Her comment made everyone’s expression darken, and they all put down their cake and rinsed their mouths with water.
The fallen girl screamed in anger, stood up, and pointed furiously at Luo Jingcha and her friend, saying, “You were lucky I didn’t beat you to death last time. Today, both of you can die!”
With that, dozens of young men and women approached, surrounding the two.
This show of force made Zhang Leyan stop laughing. She clutched Luo Jingcha’s clothes and asked timidly, “Cha Cha, I think we’re in trouble. What do we do…”
Luo Jingcha scanned the crowd with contempt in her eyes, muttering, “Just these few weaklings.”
Just then, a young man wearing a light-colored shirt walked in from the entrance. Seeing the two surrounded, he frowned and said with displeasure, “What are you all doing?”
At the sound of his voice, everyone stopped, and all the girls present looked at him with admiration.
Luo Jingcha asked Zhang Leyan, “Who is he?”
Hearing her question, Zhang Leyan looked incredulous, “Did you burn your brain or something? How can you not recognize Xu Zhenlin, the campus heartthrob?”
“Xu Zhenlin?” Luo Jingcha thought for a moment, as if recalling something.
Oh, so this was the “beautiful disaster” that had caused her to be bullied at school.
