Girl, There's Something Wrong With You - Chapter 16
“Trying to find Murong Shu in this city?” Jiang Jiu patted her chest confidently. “Piece of cake.”
“Do tell,” the princess said.
“Find a high-level demon,” Jiang Jiu suggested.
“And then?”
“Then kill her.”
“Let’s not even talk about whether we can beat her,” Cheng Jinyang interjected. “If we kill her, what’s next?”
“If we kill her, it proves her power is too weak, and she’s probably not one of Murong Shu’s subordinates,” Jiang Jiu explained. “If we can’t beat her, then she’s at least a third-rank demon and definitely connected to Murong Shu.”
Cheng Jinyang: …
“Alright, let’s assume the demon is one we can’t defeat,” he said helplessly. “What then? We’ve offended her, and now we’ll probably be hunted down. Are you planning to let her deliver our corpses to Murong Shu?”
“Uh…” Jiang Jiu frowned in thought. “Maybe we should just beg for mercy?”
Everyone nearly fell over.
“An even simpler solution,” Wang Wanrou said coolly. “You go fight her. If you lose, we’ll kill you and introduce ourselves to her in the process.”
“You!” Jiang Jiu glared. “That’s just bullying me!”
Exactly, the point is to bully you.
“It’s actually pretty straightforward,” the princess analyzed. “As long as the opponent isn’t second-rank, we can almost certainly win if we work together.”
Prompted by her insight, Cheng Jinyang quickly grasped the logic.
With my sister Xinnan alone capable of fighting third-rank demon gods, coupled with the undefeated fourth-rank Yujing, my support, and Miss Wang’s tactical command—unless we encounter a second-rank, how could we possibly lose? And in all of Qinghe Prefecture, how many second-rank entities could there be?
“Let’s do it!” He immediately made the decision. “Find a target suspected of being a demon and initiate a test encounter!”
About half an hour later, the four of them found a beautiful girl eating skewers in the corner of a remote street.
“That one’s definitely a demon,” Jiang Jiu whispered from behind the wall.
“Are you sure?” Cheng Jinyang peeked over her head. “She’s not wearing makeup, but could she just be an ordinary human with good looks?”
“A human reaching her level of beauty? Unlikely,” Jiang Jiu scoffed.
“They can. Look at Wang Wanrou,” Cheng Jinyang countered.
Jiang Jiu fell silent, unable to retort.
“Alright, I’ll make the first move. Ladies, please cover me,” Cheng Jinyang whispered. “My fragile body can’t handle high-level demon attacks.”
“Go ahead,” Jiang Jiu urged impatiently.
“Rest assured,” the princess reassured him.
Cheng Jinyang activated his demonized state, his pupils radiating like a newborn star.
On a distant rooftop, Miss Wang entered her electromagnetic wave state. With a mere thought, specific electromagnetic fields swiftly expanded.
At the skewer stall, the girl suddenly looked up and said, “Boss, you’d better pack up. There’s going to be a fight here soon.”
“Got it.” The vendor didn’t even bother extinguishing the charcoal, stuffing the meat boxes into his cart and quickly wheeling it away.
The girl finished chewing the lamb skewer in her mouth, then casually flicked the bamboo stick to the side.
Cheng Jinyang, just about to spring his trap, instinctively retracted his head in a flash.
The bamboo stick narrowly grazed his cheek, leaving a thin, sharp wound. The blood evaporated instantly. In that critical moment, Jiang Jiu and the princess each grabbed his shoulders from either side, yanking him back and saving him from what would’ve been a fatal blow.
“Who’s there?!” The beautiful girl immediately became alert.
If this were on the surface, she would’ve leapt away without hesitation, using the rooftops of tall buildings to propel herself and disappear in mere breaths.
But here, in the cramped subterranean city, the low ceiling and limited maneuverable space were far less forgiving than the open surface. Uncertain of the adversary’s identity, she wasn’t keen on initiating a chase in such an unsuitable environment.
Noticing the other party seemed inclined to communicate, Jiang Jiu stepped forward first and said, “You—”
Before she could finish her sentence, the figure vanished in a flash.
Damn it! It’s that flat-chested freak! When did she come back to life?!!! Jiang Jiu instantly flew into a rage. Of course, it had to be a demon who recognized her! “After her!!!”
The demon launched herself off the ground, rebounding off buildings with astounding agility, hurtling toward the outskirts at breakneck speed. Inwardly, she cursed her luck.
Back when she was merely a fifth-rank Mara-level demon, she had been part of a group hunting down Yujing San. But against this fearsome foe, her companions were little more than punching bags—obliterated with a single strike, half their bodies destroyed before dying gruesomely.
At that time, Yujing San was already a fourth-rank Shura at the pinnacle of her realm, just a step away from becoming a third-rank Demon God. Now, while she herself had ascended to the fourth rank, her strength was still far beneath Yujing San’s level before her death—let alone facing her now, with unknown allies lying in wait.
Her thoughts raced frantically, but before she could react, she collided head-on with an invisible force field wall, nearly knocking herself senseless.
Thanks to her powerful physical regeneration, she recovered in an instant—only to be struck by a bolt of lightning that coursed through her body.
Wang Wanrou had remotely placed the force field in her escape path. Seizing the opportunity, Cheng Jinyang fired the lightning, stunning her momentarily before unleashing a void trap.
The demon, having lost her momentum twice, was finally captured midair by the trap’s gravitational pull. To ensure there were no slip-ups, Cheng Jinyang added a mass-increase effect, making it nearly impossible for her to leverage any surface to break free.
“Who are you?” Jiang Jiu planted her hands on her hips and demanded from below.
“Yujing Star General, I’m just a lowly grunt without even a speck of starfire,” the demon replied with a pitiful, crestfallen expression. “Please let me go.”
“Liar.” Jiang Jiu sniffed the air. “I smell the scent of Xinxiu Zhi Er on you!”
“You can tell just by smelling?!” the demon exclaimed in shock. “Yujing Star General, you serve under Jianbing—there’s no need to steal starfire from Meng Zhang’s faction! The Meng Zhang Star Lord won’t take kindly to their starfire being leaked!”
Jiang Jiu’s face twisted in hesitation. Normally, she would’ve killed this demon with a single claw strike, taken her starfire, and fled immediately. Even the Ziwei Emperor wouldn’t chase her all the way to the northern regions, right?
But this time, she was accompanied by three humans—especially that blonde woman, who instinctively set off alarm bells in her mind. She didn’t dare risk alienating her companions by killing the demon on the spot. Suppressing her usual impulsiveness, Jiang Jiu forced herself to respond, “We’re looking for Meng Zhang Star Lord. There’s something we need to discuss with her.”
“What business do you have with the Star Lord?” The demon’s eyes widened. But as the humans emerged from behind Jiang Jiu, her expression shifted to one of conflicted understanding.
