- Chapter 26 - Using City Management Vehicles as a Trick
Luckily, the children had been taken away from the skewer stall area, allowing parents to act freely.
The four men trapped in the crowd made several attempts to escape but were unsuccessful.
After about five minutes of standoff, two more city management vehicles arrived at the alley’s end, and seven or eight people got out.
“Huang, Huang, Huang Team?!”
Seeing identical vehicles pull up with another group, a man descended from the troublemakers’ car, stammering upon recognizing the lead figure.
“Li Ziyang! What are you doing here?” asked someone following Huang Quanan, surprised to see him.
“I, I…”
Li Ziyang stammered without further words. Huang Quanan glanced his way, gesturing for others to take him along as they approached the crowd.
“Grandpa, sorry for your trouble. I’ll handle this immediately.”
Greeting Wen Zhiyi, Huang Quanan assessed the other four individuals.
“Whose people are these?”
Turning to the seven companions he brought, Huang Quanan received unanimous headshakes after their scrutiny.
“Do you know these people?” Huang Quanan inquired of Li Ziyang, who had just exited the vehicle.
“I-I don’t know them.” Li Ziyang glanced up briefly before quickly denying.
“You don’t recognize them, yet you drove them here? We saw them get out of your car; do you think we’re blind?”
“I was wondering why they all got out from non-driver seats—turns out there was a driver!”
“Lying through your teeth? I’ve got video—I filmed the stall and caught you too. Want to see if you recognize them?”
Parents immediately exposed Li Ziyang’s denial, with some playing recorded evidence on their phones.
Even Li Ziyang’s supervisor, who came over, looked displeased.
“Still not telling the truth? Speak! Who are they?”
“They-they’re… Qiufeng Road community auxiliary police…”
Li Ziyang mumbled quietly, but nearby people heard, puzzled.
“What position is community auxiliary police? Never heard of it.”
“Heard of court auxiliary police—not community ones?”
“They assist community staff! Officially titled ‘police,’ but unlike actual police, lacking enforcement authority—they’re hired to help.”
“Oh, really? No wonder their uniforms differ from those who arrived later!”
“Ah, yes! They look similar but aren’t the same unless closely inspected!”
Upon this revelation, people scrutinized the uniform differences.
“Community auxiliary police? Who gave you the courage to impersonate city enforcement officers?
Call the Qiufeng Road police station chief!” Huang Quanan instructed, prompting immediate action from his side.
“Captain Huang! This—we’re all on the same side, working for public safety. We didn’t impersonate! We never claimed to be city management—they misunderstood…”
The lead troublemaker forced a smile, feebly defending himself to Huang Quanan.
“Shameless! Didn’t deny being city management earlier!”
“Using city management vehicles for deception—what an act!”
“Working for public safety? You’re the biggest threat—stop tarnishing auxiliary police’s name!”
Parents berated fiercely, leaving the lead man red-faced with anger.
“Qiufeng Road community auxiliary police—does your unit have authority to check stall permits, confiscate carts?”
Zhao Xiaojing questioned directly.
The four avoided eye contact, remaining silent.
“Captain Huang, I sent photos to Director Chen. He said these four are still interns,” one relayed information to Huang Quanan.
“I don’t care if they’re real interns or fake—tell him to retrieve them from Hankou Road Urban Management Bureau. The resolution must be fair and strict!”
Huang Quanan ordered.
“Understood.”
“Your subordinate too—take him back! Handle appropriately; I’ll follow up on outcomes!”
“Yes, Captain Huang.” Li Ziyang’s supervisor replied. Terrified, Li Ziyang stood silently by.
After exchanging words with Wen Zhiyi, the three vehicles swiftly departed. Disappointed, surrounding vendors clicked their tongues, dispersing.
“Grandpa, thank you so much! Didn’t expect you’d witness such a scene on your first visit.”
As the crowd cleared, Zhao Xiaojing hurried to Wen Zhiyi.
“No big deal. Without me, you’d have suspected their legitimacy. With video evidence, you could seek justice through proper channels! Didn’t realize running a small stall was so challenging!”
Wen Zhiyi shook his head, sympathizing.
“Boss’s skills draw business—none of the others face this!”
“They focus on jealousy rather than improving their goods—only knowing how to harm others!”
“Grandpa, Skewer Sis has only been open five days, yet faced three troubles already!”
Children returned from afar, joining parents in supporting Zhao Xiaojing.
“Only five days and three incidents?” Wen Zhiyi exclaimed in surprise.
“It’s okay, Grandpa. I’m lucky today—you happened to be here. Grandpa, let me treat you to skewers!”
Unfazed, Zhao Xiaojing smiled, reigniting the stove to fry assorted skewers for Wen Zhiyi.
Despite delays, patrons hadn’t left without skewers—resuming positions, queuing for orders and sauces.
“Why so many helpers? Can skewer sales cover wages?”
Wen Zhiyi asked curiously about the volunteer helpers.
“They’re customers—students’ parents,” Zhao Xiaojing chuckled.
“We don’t want wages—just need the boss to work diligently and provide enough skewers daily!”
“Grandpa, help persuade her—she’s young, peak work years, should embrace overtime! Skewers are tasty but never enough!”
“Indeed, Grandpa—we wait for her every day!”
Seeing Zhao Xiaojing familiar with Wen Zhiyi, saucing patrons joined the conversation. The atmosphere revived jovially, leaving Wen Zhiyi beaming.
“Haha, didn’t expect skewer sales to be so lively! I love seeing young folks bustling about—how great. How much are skewers? Let me pay.”
Producing his phone, Wen Zhiyi squinted, holding it far to unlock.
“No need, Grandpa—you’ve helped me immensely. I can’t charge you! I said I’d treat you.”
“No way! Small business—I won’t take advantage!” Wen Zhiyi turned to students for skewer prices.
“Grandpa, Sis Boss said no charge. I can’t tell you today—tomorrow I will!”
A clever child responded, sparking laughter again.
“Oh, almost forgot…”
A parent in the crowd smacked their forehead.
