- Chapter 94 - Revealing the Truth (2/3)
Later that evening, when Orson returned to the dormitory, he found Litte standing at the door, wearing an apron as if waiting for him.
In the past, Orson wouldn’t have thought much of it. But now, seeing Litte like this, the words “little wife” suddenly popped into his mind.
Realizing how inappropriate his thoughts were, Orson quickly shook his head, banishing the idea. He then stepped inside.
“Thank you for your effort, Litte.”
“It’s nothing.” Litte smiled. “You’ve been so busy lately, Orson, and I happen to have more free time anyway.”
She pulled out a chair for him at the dining table, inviting him to sit.
However, instead of sitting across from him as usual, Litte moved her chair to sit beside Orson.
The gesture made Orson feel a bit uncomfortable.
Now that he knew Litte was a girl, such close proximity felt like a betrayal of Olivia.
“Why is there a leaf on your head?” Lianca asked Olivia in their dormitory, noticing a small leaf nestled in Olivia’s white hair.
She reached over and plucked it out.
“Probably fell from a tree while I was walking,” Olivia replied nonchalantly.
“Orson? Orson?” Litte waved a hand in front of Orson’s face, noticing he had spaced out.
“Huh? What is it?” Orson snapped back to reality, looking at Litte.
“Um, with midterms coming up soon… I… I’ve reached Tier 4.” Litte turned her head, her cheeks slightly flushed as she spoke softly.
“Really?” Orson’s face lit up.
When Litte had first enrolled, she had been at Tier 3. Now, after only about two months of training, she was already at Tier 4. By the end of the semester, she might even reach Tier 5, and by the end of the year, Tier 6.
Her progress was remarkably fast.
To put this in perspective, Orson had entered the academy at Tier 6 and spent an entire school year stabilizing at Tier 7.
While progress naturally slowed as one advanced, gaining an entire tier in just two months was undeniably impressive.
“That’s great! Looks like you’ll take first place in the combat exams,” Orson said, praising Litte with genuine satisfaction.
“Hehe…” Litte grinned proudly and then asked shyly, “Orson, could you… pat my head?”
“Uh…” Orson froze at her request.
She’s not even pretending anymore?
Among boys, especially those close in age, a head pat would usually lead to one chasing the other in mock anger.
He had never heard of a boy asking to be patted on the head.
Unless that boy was…
Previously, Orson had patted Litte’s head instinctively, thinking of her as a child and wanting to comfort her.
After a moment of hesitation, Orson looked at Litte, who had closed her eyes in anticipation. Not wanting to arouse suspicion, he complied and gently placed his hand on her head.
Before Orson could do anything, Litte leaned into his hand, nuzzling against it.
What was supposed to be Orson patting Litte’s head turned into Litte rubbing her head against Orson’s hand.
After a few seconds, Litte reluctantly pulled away, her face tinged with red.
“Orson, I’m worried about my written exam scores. Could you stay and tutor me for a few days?” she asked, looking up at him.
“Uh…” Orson was momentarily taken aback.
If he remembered correctly, Litte had always been exceptional at academic subjects, practically memorizing everything at a glance.
“Wait, Litte. I remember you’ve never struggled with written exams before,” Orson said, voicing his doubts.
“Ugh, I don’t know why, but I just can’t focus lately. I actually study best when I’m around you…” Litte muttered, her cheeks turning even redder.
Ah, so that’s her game.
Clever little Litte.
Orson chuckled inwardly before replying, “Alright, Litte. I’ll bring you a practice test tomorrow. If you score well, I’ll tutor you. If not, you’ll have to study on your own.”
“Huh?” Litte froze. “Shouldn’t it be the opposite? If I score poorly, you help me, and if I score well, I study alone?”
“You don’t understand, Litte,” Orson said, explaining. “The practice test will be very difficult. If you do well, it means you have high potential, and I’ll help you reach even higher. If you don’t, it just means you need to focus on mastering the basics.”
“But… what if I haven’t mastered the basics?” Litte asked, spotting a flaw in his reasoning.
“Uh… we’ll deal with that when the time comes,” Orson said, awkwardly changing the subject. “So, Litte, are you finding the coursework challenging?”
“Not really. I just have a few questions I’d like to discuss with you.”
“Alright.” Orson nodded. “Let’s talk about it later. I’m tired today. Let’s eat first, and then I need to rest.”
Litte’s relentless advances had left Orson feeling a bit overwhelmed. He had no choice but to retreat.
“Okay…” Litte pouted but agreed.
She brought out a bowl of her special chicken soup and handed it to Orson.
“Orson, since you’re planning to rest, have some of this to refresh yourself.”
“Chicken soup can refresh you?”
“Trust me, it works. Remember how energetic you felt the day after you had it last time?”
“Alright.” Orson nodded.
In front of Litte, he drank the soup in one gulp.
“Not too salty, not too bland. It’s perfect,” he complimented her, then ate a few bites of food. Feeling full, he stood up, looking a bit dazed.
“Litte, I’m feeling sleepy. Could you clean up the dishes? I’m heading upstairs to rest.”
“Alright.” Litte, seeing how effective her plan was, couldn’t help but smile to herself.
An hour later, Litte quietly opened Orson’s bedroom door. Seeing him sound asleep on the bed, she smiled mischievously.
She began removing her clothes, just as she had done before.
Normally, Litte wouldn’t dare to be so bold while Orson was asleep. Only after he drank that potion-laced chicken soup did she feel confident enough to risk exposing herself in front of him.
“Hehe, Orson…” Litte murmured, climbing into bed beside him, completely naked. She snuggled under the covers, resting her head on his arm.
It seemed that only by feeling Orson’s warmth could she truly feel at ease.
“Orson seemed so strange today…” Litte whispered softly into his ear.
“Normally, he wouldn’t reject my affection, but today, he seemed like he was trying to avoid me.”
“Well, it doesn’t matter. As long as I can stay by your side, Orson.”
With that, Litte wrapped her arms around him, rubbing her face gently against his.
