Reluctant to Break Up
As Asuka spoke, Kimura Hayata’s body tensed slightly. His gaze met Asuka’s clear and brimming eyes, then slowly shifted away.
“Mm.”
Surprisingly, Kimura’s inner emotions were calm. In fact, he had anticipated this day when his girlfriend swiftly rose to stardom.
He just didn’t expect it to come so soon…
Well, it made sense. One was a gradually rising starlet in Tokyo, while the other was a poor guy barely getting by with part-time jobs.Â
He felt he had no reason to delay Asuka’s bright future.
For some reason, a sense of relief welled up in Kimura’s heart. The four years of their relationship seemed fitting to conclude as his university life was nearing its end.
A light and cheerful smile appeared on Kimura’s face. He looked directly into Asuka’s eyes and asked, “Have you thought it through?”
Asuka swayed her two snowy-white legs in front of the sofa. The cool light in the living room illuminated her fair and delicate cheeks.Â
She lowered her head, and a strand of hair fell, lifting the corner of her mouth.
“I’ve thought about it.”
“Oh, I see…” Kimura withdrew his gaze, reaching up to tousle his messy hair.
The air fell silent once again, and the two remained silent for a long time.
Suddenly, Asuka placed her hands on her knees, gazing earnestly at the young man beside her.
At the same time, Kimura’s gaze, through the scattered bangs on his forehead, met Asuka’s eyes.
Their eyes locked, and then they both spoke simultaneously.
“Then let’s break up.”
“I’ve already quit the agency.”
Two voices echoed in the living room, and both looked at each other in astonishment.
“Eh?”
Kimura’s brain seemed to momentarily malfunction.
Quit the agency?! Before he could process it, the panicked and helpless voice of Asuka entered his ears.
“Break up?”
The excited light in the charming and lively girl’s eyes disappeared. In her clear gaze, there was a mix of panic and confusion. She stared at him with wide eyes.Â
“Did Hayata-chan change his mind? Did you fall for another girl? Why do we have to break up?”
Kimura snapped back to reality, and Asuka’s pure and beautiful face was already close to his, the fragrance lingering around her delicate nose.
Asuka pursed her lips, her dim gaze helplessly fixed on Kimura, as if trying to discern something from his expression.
Kimura subconsciously avoided Asuka’s gaze. The palpitations in his heart tightened his throat, and although he opened his mouth to say something, no sound came out.
Since Asuka’s debut, he had been keeping an eye on her activities in the entertainment industry.Â
He was well aware that with her current momentum, as long as Asuka continued in the entertainment world, becoming famous throughout the country was no joke.
Choosing to leave the agency for the sake of their relationship?
Kimura rubbed his nose, took a deep breath, and met Asuka’s sorrowful gaze.
“If Asuka continues to stay in the agency, she’ll probably become even more famous…”
Asuka shook her head, interrupting Kimura before he could continue, “Has Hayata-chan grown tired of me?”
“What?” Kimura leaned forward, not catching Asuka’s words clearly.
“Don’t you like me anymore, Hayata-chan?”
Asuka’s long eyelashes trembled, her snowy-white teeth biting down on her soft lips with force, suppressing the emotions inside her.
The girl’s clear and brimming eyes seemed to be holding back surging waves, staring straight as if trying to uncover the thoughts deep in Kimura’s soul.
“I do.”
Kimura answered almost without hesitation.
He liked her! How could he not? Where else could he find another girlfriend who was so pure, cute, gentle, considerate, and a Tokyo star?
But precisely because he liked her, Kimura didn’t want to become a hindrance on Asuka’s path to stardom.
Asuka was momentarily stunned, and her eyes, once dull, suddenly regained their luster.
Kimura remained silent for a while before speaking, “But what about your job? Hasn’t Asuka always wanted to become famous throughout the country?”
Asuka gently shook her head, her gaze falling on the chandelier on the ceiling, her pupils sparkling with a faint light.
“If one day, Hayata isn’t by my side, unable to be my lover, then becoming famous throughout the country holds no meaning for me…”
In the cool and bright living room, Asuka’s soft and tender voice echoed. Kimura stared at her in a daze; it had been a long time since he heard Asuka speak so much.
The girl’s voice was gentle yet filled with stubbornness, and there was an unmistakable tremor in her calm words.
Asuka lowered her delicate face, and it seemed there were tears in the corners of her eyes. Her red lips slightly parted.
“Don’t break up, okay?”
Kimura remained silent.Â
Under Asuka’s hopeful gaze, his large hand gently caressed the girl’s smooth and soft cheek, his fingers wiping away the moisture at the corner of her eye.
Asuka’s words made Kimura’s thoughts broaden.Â
So what if she left the agency? After all, he was a bona fide transmigrator. In his previous life, with so many resources, he didn’t believe there wasn’t a way to make his girlfriend famous.
Tokyo star? That was nothing. He wanted to turn Asuka into a queen.
With this in mind, a curve formed at the corner of Kimura’s mouth, and his fingers lightly pinched Asuka’s soft and elastic cheek.
“We’re not breaking up. Asuka is so lovely; I can’t bear to part with her.”
Asuka blinked blankly, and a blush spread across her fair face.
However, she quickly shyly pulled away from Kimura’s large hand.
Even though she had received Kimura’s assurance that they wouldn’t break up, thinking about the moment when Kimura had actually mentioned breaking up left her feeling quite aggrieved.
Asuka wrapped her slender arms around her chest, her pink cheeks slightly puffed.
“Hayata-chan always knows how to say things to make girls happy. You’ve probably said this to many girls before, right?”
Kimura’s expression stiffened, looking at Asuka’s seemingly unimpressed expression. He couldn’t help but laugh.
“Indeed, nothing can be hidden from Asuka. But it’s not that many, just one, two, three…”
Kimura restrained his smile, a nostalgic look appearing on his face. He extended his slender fingers and counted them one by one.
As Kimura counted, Asuka’s small mouth slightly opened, her eyes filled with disbelief.
“Kimura Hayata! You…”
“Oh, I miscounted. It seems there’s only Asuka.”
Kimura chuckled lightly, extending his index finger to block Asuka’s view.
As if throwing a punch into thin air, Asuka glared at the handsome and gentle face, her chest heaving.
Suddenly, Asuka’s eyes narrowed, her nostrils twitching rapidly as she moved closer to Kimura.
Confused, Kimura looked at her, then his expression changed as he tried to get up.Â
However, a pair of delicate hands grabbed the hem of his clothes.
“Hayata-chan, did you drink alcohol?”
Asuka stared at Kimura, a hint of concern on her face.
Kimura awkwardly scratched his cheek.
“After finishing work at the Izakaya, Kujima-san insisted on giving me a drink. You know how enthusiastic he is, and I couldn’t refuse…”
Hearing Kimura’s explanation, Asuka pouted, “Since it’s from Kujima-san, there’s nothing you can do. But Hayata-chan, drink less in the future; it’s not good for your health.”
Kimura earnestly nodded, “If Kujima-san offers me another drink, I’ll definitely refuse.”
“Did Hayata-chan have dinner?”
Asuka let go of the hem of Kimura’s clothes, slowly standing up from the sofa.
