- Chapter 14 - All Eyes on the Bunny
Ruan Tang’s disappointment was written all over her face. Her lashes trembled faintly as she spoke in a soft voice.
“I… I want to talk to you alone.”
Lu Jie smiled with warmth in his eyes.
“Sure, but…”
He lowered his chin to rest against the side of her neck like a clingy puppy, speaking in a gentle whisper.
“Class is about to start. Be good and come to the lecture with me first, okay? We’ll talk after. Deal?”
Ruan Tang’s cheeks turned pink. Caught off guard, she fumbled to push him away—
—but was already yanked apart from Lu Jie by an infuriated Zhou Yi and Qi Feng.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!”
Qi Feng looked like he was about to lose it.
This bastard actually dared enjoy Ruan Tang’s affection while stringing her along with this blurry, ambiguous behavior? He must have a death wish.
Though Zhou Yi said nothing, his eyes were cold and dangerous, like he wanted to kill Lu Jie with a glare.
Just then, the professor finally arrived.
“What are you all doing crowding the doorway? Class has started—get to your seats.”
Only then did the drama wind down.
But—
Over in the finance lecture hall, the students who had just witnessed this love-triangle spectacle were abuzz with excited glances, barely able to stay still.
And who could blame them?
After all, a group of strikingly good-looking young men were now sitting in the back corner of the classroom.
The most handsome faces at T University had somehow all gathered in one small corner of the finance department.
Ruan Tang sat against the wall, flanked on all sides. Zhou Yi behind her, Qi Feng to her right—Lu Jie hadn’t managed to get that seat, so he could only settle for the spot in front of her.
Girls throughout the room were losing their minds internally:
【Holy sh*t how is anyone supposed to focus on class like this?!】
The campus forum exploded. Again.
People were even starting to write fanfiction.
And someone had opened a betting pool.
【Place your bets! Zhou Yi, Lu Jie, Qi Feng—who will the little beauty fall for?!】
【I’m all in on the campus prince! Cool on the outside, warm on the inside—he’s got that iceberg charm! Let’s gooooo! Mama believes in you!!】
【Why is no one betting on the school tyrant?! Big bad wolf x soft bunny beauty—how is this not everyone’s favorite trope?!】
【Y’all better get ready to eat crow. Clearly, our young master Lu has the upper hand right now!】
【I’m Team Lu too! He acts all flirty, but deep down he’s totally devoted. I noticed how crushed he looked when the beauty rejected those other two! This pairing is endgame. If I’m wrong, I’ll eat my desk!】
【LMAO. Be sure to livestream that desk-eating moment.】
【By the way, I once saw a handsome, refined guy from off-campus pick Ruan Tang up. Total abstinent type. Can I put money on him?? What if he’s the dark horse?!】
【You’re dreaming. With all this chaos happening on campus, there’s no room for outsiders. Ever heard the saying “don’t let the water flow to someone else’s field”?】
While the forum was ablaze, the girl at the center of it all—our poor little Ruan Tang—wanted to die.
The weird atmosphere. The heavy pressure. The prickling gazes burning into her skin. It was all too much.
Was she even going to get a chance to talk to Lu Jie privately?
Wuwuwu…
Ruan Tang slumped onto her desk in despair.
Why was doing missions so hard?
Weren’t beginner tasks supposed to be easy? That’s what all the veteran fast-travelers said!
So how did it end up being hell-level difficulty for her?
Just as she buried her head, her phone vibrated from under the desk.
She glanced down—it was a message from Shen Zhu.
“Tangtang, are you free after class today? Can we meet up? There’s something important I want to tell you.”
Ruan Tang couldn’t help but recall the confession she’d overheard behind the tree yesterday.
Her cheeks went warm.
“Sorry, Shen Zhu-gege, I’ve got something tonight…”
But Shen Zhu wasn’t discouraged. He quickly sent another message.
“Tangtang, want to go to the amusement park?”
Her eyes lit up.
An amusement park!
She’d never been allowed to go to places like that. Her upbringing had been strict, and she’d always longed for the experience.
But after what happened yesterday… she wasn’t sure how to face him anymore…
Just as she wavered, another message came through.
“Don’t be afraid, Tangtang. Today’s my birthday. I just want to spend it with you. Is that okay?”
His birthday? It didn’t feel right to turn him down.
Ruan Tang blinked her big, dewy eyes and softly tapped out a reply.
“Okay.”
Behind her, Zhou Yi had witnessed the entire exchange—and his eyes narrowed dangerously.
He hadn’t meant to eavesdrop.
It was just… from his angle, Ruan Tang’s head was lowered, her soft curls spilling over her shoulder to reveal a sliver of her fair, porcelain-like nape.
He couldn’t look away.
He wanted to leave kisses on that unguarded patch of delicate skin.
He wanted to devour his little white rabbit.
The moment that dangerous thought crossed his mind, her phone lit up with a new message.
And he watched—watched another man trying to steal his bunny right in front of him.
The violent urge in his chest surged uncontrollably.
Still, on the outside, he remained the cool, pristine school prince. He furrowed his brows as if puzzling over a tough math problem.
No one could guess that what he was really thinking was how to lock his little bunny away—so no other man could ever lay eyes on her again.
“Professor.”
Zhou Yi stood up abruptly. “I’m not feeling well. I’d like to rest in the infirmary.”
The professor glanced at him—he’d had plenty of energy when they were arguing at the door. What was wrong now?
Qi Feng scoffed and kicked the leg of his desk, folding his arms behind his head with a sneer.
Lu Jie turned around and shot him a knowing look.
The professor couldn’t be bothered to deal with their drama. He waved him off.
“Fine, fine. Go get some rest.”
It wasn’t like these kids were even finance majors anyway—good riddance.
But just before Zhou Yi left, he reached for Ruan Tang’s hand.
“I feel dizzy. Tangtang, will you help me over?”
Ruan Tang didn’t even have time to react. She looked up and met Zhou Yi’s eyes—dark, turbulent, aching, like he had a thousand unspoken words weighing down on him.
She thought he really might be unwell, and her heart softened.
“Okay…”
Qi Feng and Lu Jie’s expressions instantly changed.
Zhou Yi, however, broke into a gentle smile.
“Thank you, Tangtang.”
Gasps rippled through the room.
“Holy crap! The cold school prince actually smiles like that?!”
“Oh my god, that was my idol just now!!!”
“Help, someone screenshot that. I need it as my phone wallpaper!”
Zhou Yi held her hand tightly and led her out of the classroom.
The sheer possessiveness in his grip left the professor speechless.
“Didn’t he say he was sick? Sure looks healthy to me.”
Qi Feng and Lu Jie both stood up at the same time.
“Professor, we’re not feeling well either.”
The professor’s face darkened.
“Are you kidding me? What do you think this class is? Sit down!”
Qi Feng didn’t even listen. He stormed out the door—only to discover the two had already disappeared.
He cursed under his breath and started heading toward the infirmary.
Lu Jie pressed his fingers to his temple in frustration.
—Zhou Yi wasn’t that dumb. No way he’d take Ruan Tang to the actual infirmary and risk being found.
He definitely dragged her off to some place no one could find them.
Tch.
Jealousy and irritation boiled inside him, pushing him to the edge of madness.
