Chapter 424: The Plane’s Chosen
In the misty valley of World X-617, Medel sat by a campfire, roasting a pre-marinated chicken.
The chicken wasn’t hunted here; Medel had prepared it in his spatial ring, anticipating the limited food options.
Nearby sat two companions, a middle-aged man named Wade and a younger woman named Tessa, both committed to helping Medel seize world control.
They were formal members of Seranthiel, but unlike Helag or Medel, they lacked significant potential or influence.
For many in their position, advancing further was challenging.
Seranthiel’s management of members was lenient.
Helag, despite being part of Parker’s faction, would be ignored if he showed no potential.
In such cases, switching allegiance to Medel or the Taylor family wouldn’t concern Parker.
People of little value didn’t warrant attention from higher-ups.
Helag, however, was different; Parker would intervene if he considered joining Medel.
This was one reason Helag hadn’t accepted Medel’s offer; he preferred staying under Parker’s wing.
Medel valued Helag’s potential, wanting to recruit him, backed by the Taylor family, unafraid of Parker.
Wade and Tessa, with some potential but not enough to gain notice, eagerly accepted Medel’s offer.
Tessa tended the roasting chicken, ensuring it didn’t burn.
Medel, warmed by the fire, felt comfortable.
Their gathering wasn’t by chance; Medel had arranged for them to teleport to nearby areas.
Once in the world, they quickly regrouped.
Together, their safety increased significantly.
All participants were crystallized wizards, making it difficult for anyone to face three at once.
Unless others formed groups, confronting them was disadvantageous.
Medel had more loyal followers, though only these two had teleported nearby; others would join eventually.
With six declared loyalists, Medel believed they’d be nearly invincible once united.
Medel smiled, reflecting on the Taylor family’s influence and power.
“Master, the chicken’s ready,” Tessa announced.
Medel nodded, slicing a piece with a knife and eating.
“Master, how do we control the world’s will? We have no leads,” Tessa inquired.
Wade also looked over, unsure of the process.
“Do you know about plane guardians?” Medel asked cryptically.
Wade and Tessa shook their heads, puzzled.
“Every plane has guardians chosen by the world’s will, individuals with potential, nurtured to gain strength. They address crises when the plane is threatened,” Medel explained.
“But isn’t the world’s will powerful enough to handle crises?” Tessa asked.
Medel shook his head, “No, the world’s will is bound by rules, unable to act freely. It’s limited in many ways, unable to handle everything.”
“Thus, the world’s will selects individuals to empower, known as the chosen or the plane’s children.”
Wade and Tessa pondered this new information, digesting it.
They hadn’t heard of this before, lacking access to such knowledge.
“Master, how does this relate to Operation Cradle? The world supposedly lacks intelligent species, so there shouldn’t be a plane’s child,” Wade questioned.
“There is one. This world has a plane’s child, though not necessarily an intelligent species. We just haven’t found them yet. Our goal is to find and kill the plane’s child,” Medel stated.
“Kill them?” Tessa exclaimed.
Medel nodded, “Yes, the plane’s child is favored by the world’s will. Attempting to kill them will draw the world’s will to intervene, aiding the child. The world’s will isn’t cunning; it acts to protect the child. When it appears, we seize control.”
“Ah, you’ve planned this well,” Tessa praised.
Wade and Tessa finally understood, no longer confused.
Hidden in the shadows, Helag also grasped the plan, “So that’s the strategy.”
Helag had spotted Medel’s group before sunset, choosing to remain hidden with a shadow spell.
Upon finding them, Helag decided to follow Medel.
Medel, from the Taylor family, likely knew valuable information; following him could lead to clues about the world’s will.
Helag hadn’t expected to glean so much information from eavesdropping.
He had pondered controlling the world’s will, facing many uncertainties, but now felt more informed.
