- Chapter 40 - A True Gentleman Hides His Talents, Waiting for the Right Moment to Act
Xu Yuan called out to Xia Tian several times in a row.
But Xia Tian merely shifted his sleeping position, showing no further signs of waking up, as though he couldn’t hear her at all.
“Xia Tian, are you a pig? How can you sleep this deeply!”
Xu Yuan was about to lose her mind.
No matter how she tried to wake him, Xia Tian remained fast asleep.
She wanted to make more obvious movements to get his attention, but Dai Zihan, sitting at the podium, seemed to have noticed something and cast a glance in her direction.
Xu Yuan, afraid of being caught, had no choice but to quiet down.
She was beyond frustrated.
She had clearly told Xia Tian in advance to remember to copy her answers during this part of the exam, and yet… he had fallen asleep?!
“Forget it, there’s not much to copy in the Chinese exam anyway. I’ll just make sure to remind him properly during the math exam later.”
Giving up on trying to wake Xia Tian, Xu Yuan turned her attention back to reviewing her own answers.
With the room now quiet again, Xia Tian, lying with his eyes closed, allowed a sly smile to creep across his face.
Xu Yuan, Xu Yuan… don’t you know?
You can never wake someone who’s pretending to be asleep.

During the lunch break, Xia Tian and Fang Yu headed to the internet café across from the school to play a couple rounds of League of Legends.
But their last game didn’t go well—their teammates were terrible—and by the time they finished, there were only ten minutes left before the afternoon exam was set to begin.
They hurried back to school, and before splitting up, they stopped at the restroom to deal with their “afternoon tea.”
“Little Tian, you’ve been studying hard these past few days. You’re not going to end up at the bottom of the rankings again, are you?”
“Definitely not. Who knows, I might even score close to you.”
“Ha! Don’t kid yourself. You’ve only been studying for a few days, and you think you can outperform me? I’m still ranked in the top 200 of the grade, you know!”
At that moment, Ma Dongguai, the “Left Protector,” who was standing between Xia Tian and Fang Yu, chimed in with a laugh. “Xia Tian, stop with the bragging. I’ve got last place in our class covered, so just settle for second-to-last.”
Xia Tian chuckled but didn’t say anything in response. He simply unbuckled his pants and began to “unleash the flood.”
Fang Yu curiously glanced down and immediately looked shocked, his eyes wide.
Ma Dongguai: 8==D
Fang Yu: 8===D
Xia Tian: 8=====D
“W-What the hell?!”
“Little Tian, how have you been hiding that from us?!”
Fang Yu felt like his entire worldview had been shattered, as if a herd of wild horses had just trampled over his mind.
Meanwhile, Ma Dongguai silently pulled up his pants and quietly left the restroom.
Xia Tian gave himself a couple of shakes, zipped up, and flashed a devilish grin.
“A true gentleman hides his talents, waiting for the right moment to act!”

Xu Yuan wanted to remind Xia Tian not to fall asleep during the upcoming math exam.
But as the test began, Xia Tian was still nowhere to be seen.
“Where is Xia Tian? Did he just give up on the exam altogether?”
Xu Yuan was starting to worry, but just as she was about to lose hope, she heard a voice from the doorway.
“Excuse me!”
Xia Tian appeared at the entrance.
Dai Zihan glanced over at him, raising an eyebrow. “Xia Tian, the exam has already started. Why are you only showing up now?”
“Sorry, Ms. Dai. I had an upset stomach after lunch and spent a while in the bathroom.”
“Fine, fine. Hurry back to your seat and start your exam. You know that if you’re late for the college entrance exam, the proctors won’t be so lenient. You need to manage your time better!”
“Got it, Ms. Dai.”
Xia Tian grinned sheepishly before heading to his seat and picking up his math test paper.
Without hesitation, he started answering the questions at lightning speed.
While most of the other students were still working on the multiple-choice section, Xia Tian had already finished the fill-in-the-blanks and moved on to the long-answer questions.
—
The exam time flew by, and soon it was Wednesday afternoon—the last day of exams.
The final subject was English.
Throughout the exams, Xia Tian had either arrived late or finished early, going back to sleep after completing his papers.
During the math exam, Xu Yuan had been on the verge of turning around and shaking him awake, but no matter what she did, Xia Tian wouldn’t wake up.
The only exception had been during the science exam that morning, when Xia Tian had worked diligently from start to finish without taking a nap.
With fifty minutes left in the English exam, Xu Yuan glanced back and noticed that, for once, Xia Tian hadn’t fallen asleep!
Feeling a surge of hope, she immediately placed her answer sheet in the top right corner of her desk.
“Xia Tian, hurry up and copy my answers!”
“You’ve been sleeping for two days. If you don’t copy my answers now, you’ll end up at the bottom of the rankings again!”
But although Xia Tian remained awake this time, he was staring out the window, completely ignoring her.
Xu Yuan’s face flushed with anger.
She was starting to suspect that Xia Tian had been ignoring her on purpose for the past few days.
“Xia Tian, are you deaf?! You’re driving me crazy! Are you going to cheat or not?!”
Frustrated, Xu Yuan didn’t realize that her movements had become quite conspicuous.
Dai Zihan, who had been watching Xu Yuan for the past two days, finally decided that enough was enough.
She walked over and stood beside Xu Yuan.
“Xu Yuan, this is an exam. If you keep turning around, I’ll have to mark you down for cheating and disqualify your paper.”
“I’m sorry, teacher… I understand.”
Xu Yuan was utterly humiliated, her actions drawing the attention of everyone in the exam room.
Her face burned with embarrassment, and she lowered her head, too mortified to look up again.
Once Dai Zihan left, Xu Yuan, still red-faced, fumed inwardly.
“Dammit, Xia Tian! Copy my answers or don’t—it’s your own fault if you fail!”
Meanwhile, Xia Tian was doing his best to stifle his laughter.
Seeing Xu Yuan’s plan backfire so spectacularly filled him with immense satisfaction.
Finally, some peace and quiet!
With forty minutes left in the exam, most of the students were just starting to work on their essays.
But Xia Tian had long since finished the entire paper and was already fast asleep.
Dai Zihan, however, kept her eyes on Xu Yuan and Xia Tian. After what had just happened, she was especially vigilant, making sure they weren’t up to anything suspicious.
Seeing Xia Tian lying on his desk again, Dai Zihan furrowed her brow.
“This kid… He’s been sleeping since the first exam, all the way up to this last one. Has he completely given up?”
“No! This is my English exam—there’s no way I’m letting him slack off like this!”
Determined, Dai Zihan walked over to Xia Tian’s desk.
She was just about to wake him up, but then something caught her eye—the exam answer sheet on his desk.
She was momentarily stunned.
Xia Tian had already filled out the entire answer sheet!
But then she remembered that the English exam was mostly multiple-choice, and many underachievers liked to just randomly bubble in answers before giving up on the essay section.
Still, something about the pattern of the bubbles on Xia Tian’s answer sheet felt… off.
Out of curiosity, Dai Zihan picked up his answer sheet and began checking it against the correct answers in her head.
The more she compared, the wider her eyes grew.
“His multiple-choice answers… are all correct?!”
In disbelief, she quickly flipped the sheet over to the essay section.
And there it was—his essay, written neatly and completely, filling up the entire page.
Dai Zihan was utterly dumbfounded.
