- Chapter 5.2 - Freshman Performance (1.2)
The chief instructor of the military training stood on the makeshift podium at the edge of the training field with a loudspeaker, yelling at the listless freshmen with a hoarse voice.
“Each class–count the number of people–enter the dormitory according to the number!”
The students in the elite class had the spirit of daring to be the first in the whole grade, and they almost lined up and gathered at the fastest speed next to their bus.
By the time they had all gathered, the basically empty bus slowly let down three people.
Standing next to the bus, the young instructor in charge of the first-year elite class raised his eyebrows.
“You three, why are you–”
His words abruptly stopped. Seeing the looks of the three people, the momentum that the instructor had forcibly built up immediately fell short.
Qin Ke, who was closest, had no doubt that the emotion that had flashed across the instructor’s face at that moment could be summed up as “unspeakable bitterness”.
The instructor, with his hand on his belt, walked over in a few steps and lowered his voice, “How did you guys get off the first-year bus?”
“…Yo, Instructor Hao?”
Qiao Jin looked closely and laughed, “You’re leading the freshman elite class again this year? What a coincidence, the three of us have been held back.”
The instructor’s face darkened.
Qiao Yu also laughed, “Brother, don’t scare Instructor Hao.”
Qiao Jin, “Haha, just kidding, Instructor Hao, don’t be nervous. This third-year elite class, the temporary dormitory is still C area 001 and 002, right?”
Instructor Hao reluctantly responded.
He glanced somewhat evasively at Huo Jun, who was standing at the back with his hat slanted and half covering his face, before turning his head.
“The second and third years have already gathered in the dormitory for cleaning–you guys hurry up and join the team.”
Qiao Jin and Qiao Yu looked at each other and laughed, ready to leave.
But when they turned around, they found that Huo Jun behind them had gone in another direction.
……
Qin Ke watched wide-eyed as Huo Jun walked up to her.
In front of the stunned instructor and the quiet class.
Huo Jun stopped. The boy was about twenty centimeters taller than her, looking down at her from the front, his eyelids drooping lazily, hiding his pitch-black eyes.
But that gaze made Qin Ke uneasy.
After staring at her for about two or three seconds, Huo Jun shifted his gaze and laughed lightly.
“…See you tonight.”
He turned and walked away.
Qin Ke: “…………”
—Madman.
Two minutes later, Qin Ke understood the meaning of Huo Jun’s words.
“The new student performance is a tradition of the military training month, held on the first night of each military training month,” Song Qisheng said with a stern face, “Every year it is arranged by the school’s student council, with the first-year students responsible for performing. There is an afternoon and an evening to prepare.”
Song Qisheng took out a form from behind him.
“Based on the ‘Hobbies and Talents’ column in the personal information form you filled out before enrollment, the student council has picked out a few students from each class – I will read the names, and those called should step forward.”
Qin Ke lowered her eyes.
She clearly remembered that she had only filled in two words in her personal information form: reading. She was not at all worried that the student council would arrange for her to perform an impromptu reading on stage.
Unless they were crazy—
Song Qisheng, “Gu Xinqing, Qin Ke…”
Qin Ke, “?”
In the elite class, there were especially few students who had filled in artistic talents, and in the end, only four people gathered.
Qin Ke, who had stepped forward, hesitated and asked, “Teacher Song, I filled in ‘reading’ in the ‘personal talent’ column of my form. Did the student council make a mistake?”
Song Qisheng frowned and turned around. After seeing Qin Ke’s appearance, his expression relaxed.
“You’re Qin Ke, right?”
“Yes.”
“Your situation is a bit special–is Qin Yan, the vice president of the student council’s literature and art department and a second-year student, your sister? She said you have a foundation in dance and personally recommended you.”
“..…”
Qin Ke looked down indifferently.
At this point in time in her previous life, before she changed her preference to attend an arts high school, her dance had not received systematic training and was a complete mess.
And Qin Yan was very clear about this.
……
Qin Yan wanted her to make a fool of herself.
In front of the whole school…and Huo Jun.
