Chapter 2: A New Love, A New Tragedy
The Harbinger of a New Girl
In the midst of winter, a woman stood watching the formidable wall sprawling before her from within a thicket.
Enveloped in a leather coat, her figure donned black-lensed sunglasses, and from the side, she appeared nothing short of suspicious.
Before the girl stood a wall stretching several meters, enclosing the welcoming name of Asagami.
The girl herself didn’t know how many minutes or hours she had been there.
In front of the Asagami Group’s entrance, “No Trespassing” tape was plastered over and over, as though the place had sunken like a house put up for sale.
The divine aura that Asagami once held as the object of the world’s admiration was now nowhere to be found, not even perceivable by the girl standing before it.
That is—even for the girl who once swore absolute allegiance to the name Asagami.
“It’s about time, I guess…”
The girl murmured, probably for the last time she would come here.
Today would be the end of her connection with the Asagami Group, which had given her, who had nothing, happiness and the power to protect.
She removed her sunglasses. With her rounded short hair and a face that could be mistaken for a middle schooler’s due to its youthful features, her appearance hardly matched her attire, but any healthy boy would gaze at her, struck by her stunning beauty.
“I’m sorry, Kanade.”
It’s not that she held a grudge. Nor did she want revenge.
In fact, she had only spoken with “him” for a few brief minutes when he visited Asagami.
That’s why. She just wanted to know.
She wanted to uncover the truth about the person she had revered as a real father, and about Asagami Kanade, whom she had treated like a real sister, who had been defeated by that boy—Kurogane Minato.
“A child who brought down Asagami and my father all alone… I’m looking forward to it.”

The time was after school, and in the faculty room of Hoshimiya Academy, several adults had gathered. Among them were the principal and the homeroom teacher of the class that Minato, Yuuya, and Mio belonged to.
Facing them were two police officers wrapped in black suits. One was holding a notepad, while the other seemed to be deeply engaged in conversation with the academy’s principal.
“Then, teachers, we’ll take our leave.”
“No, thank you for your hard work.”
“Don’t mention it. We can’t have such discussions in front of the students. Let’s go.”
“Yes, sir.”
The four bowed their heads simultaneously, and the two officers left the faculty room.
The room was left with only the principal and the homeroom teacher. After the officers left, a deep sigh from the principal broke the silence.
“Ah… I guess we’ll have peace for a while now.”
“I’m sorry, principal. It was my lack of supervision.”
“No, it’s all in the past now. Besides, you’re not to blame for this matter.”
As the homeroom teacher bowed, the principal reassured him, a conversation they had likely had many times before.
“So, is Kurogane-kun still the same?”
“Yes. You wouldn’t think he’d been involved in such an incident, he’s as nonchalant as ever. He doesn’t seem bothered by the backbiting from other students, and it’s driving me a bit crazy.”
Two months had passed since the collapse of the Asagami Group, and the truth had been publicly reported by newspapers and the media.
Of course, this brought attention to Hoshimiya Academy, where Minato and Kanade attended.
It wasn’t the first or second time the police had visited the academy to inquire about the matter.
In the first week after Kanade’s mother, Asagami Sachiko, confessed her crimes, dozens of reporters and media personnel flocked to the academy.
“All we can do is hope this settles down quickly.”
“There’s something I want to discuss with you. Starting next week, I’d like to keep an eye on Kurogane-kun.”
“Surveillance?”
“Yes. Given what happened before, we teachers must take a stand.”
“Yes… that’s true.”
Even before the incident involving Asagami Group and his aunt and uncle, Kurogane Minato had been a student of concern at Hoshimiya Academy.
It’s not that he was bullied or had problems with his classroom attitude. The school’s deviation score is low, but his grades are superior.
Many female students are attracted to his confident demeanor, but it’s also true that many older students don’t think well of his attitude.
There have been a few cases where powerful upperclassmen targeted powerless underclassmen for bullying, but these were largely resolved by the intervention of the teachers.
However, he was different. Whether it was his attitude or jealousy, upperclassmen delinquents had hassled him several times, but Minato never flinched and always turned the tables on them.
Since Minato himself didn’t initiate the problems, the teachers couldn’t say anything; if he hadn’t resisted, he would have been the one hurt. The school understood that. But…
He resolved everything on his own, without relying on anyone.
In a way, this was the main reason why the teachers were troubled by Kurogane Minato.
“It’s tough for him, but if we want him to graduate safely, we have no choice. I’m planning to tell the students that it’s part of trainee teacher activities. I’m counting on you.”
With those words, the principal handed a file-wrapped document to the homeroom teacher.
“Her? She’s going to do it?”
“Yes. She was an apprentice bodyguard for Asagami Takashi at that age. Both Kanade’s mother and he himself have been informed. She’ll be perfect for keeping an eye on Kurogane-kun.”
The homeroom teacher looked over the document again. A surveillance role for such a small girl seemed unthinkable.
Even if she was an apprentice, was she the bodyguard from Asagami Group who had exposed the misdeeds with Minato’s help?
She was a woman, and not yet an adult. Could such a young girl have been involved with the Asagami Group? Could there be some mistake?
“Are you sure about her…?”
“I have my doubts, but we have no choice but to take a gamble. Preventing students from repeating mistakes is also part of a teacher’s role. I’m counting on you.”
“Yes…”
The homeroom teacher reluctantly nodded.
In the midst of an unending pure and single-minded yandere love, another girl was about to meet Kurogane Minato—her information about Minato was filed away in the desk drawer.
