Thirsty Skin - Chapter 1
Chapter 1 -【Why Is This Handsome Guy Being So Silly Today?】
At 8:50 in the morning, Zhu Chizhou parked his car and stepped into the elevator from the basement floor.
He is tall, with outstanding looks, a sharp look between his brows. He is wearing a denim waterfall shirt with sleeves and collar that fit him perfectly to show off his hormonal body.
The financial industry requires a high level of academic qualifications, and first-tier companies like Gengyan Capital are the most competitive. However, Zhu Chizhou joined the company right after graduating from university, making him the youngest employee in the company.
He is handsome, popular, and has a mysterious family background. Few people in the company talk about his academic qualifications behind his back. Instead, discussions about his figure and appearance are discussed almost every day in the tea room. The elevator stopped at the first floor, and many colleagues came in. Everyone greeted Zhu Chizhou with a smile.
When he smiled, the sharpness between his brows disappeared, the corners of his eyes slightly raised, a pair of childish eye bags appeared under his eyes, and a row of white and neat teeth were revealed, which made people feel cheerful when they saw him.
He got off the elevator on the 27th floor and took a few steps when someone patted him from behind.
Zhu Chizhou turned around and saw that the person coming was the investment manager, Zhou Huang. He smiled and greeted the other party, “Brother Ang.”
Zhou Huang was not tall, with narrow eyes and a face that was wide at the bottom and narrow at the top. His hair was held upright by hairspray, like a steamed dumpling. He put his hand on Zhu Chizhou’s shoulder affectionately and said, “I heard you worked overtime until eleven last night?”
Zhu Chizhou’s smile froze at the corner of his mouth. “Yes, it has been going on for a week.”
Zhou Huang patted his shoulder sympathetically and said, “It’s okay. It’ll be fine once you get through the first year.”
Zhu Chizhou originally planned to stay here for only one year, but he was still curious: “What happens after one year?”
Zhou Huang: “Then you get used to it.”
Zhu Chizhou nodded, as if he had suddenly realized something: “So that’s how it is.”
Their workstations were next to each other, back to back, and separated from the office of Investment Director, Lin Wan, by an aisle.
Zhu Chizhou is the assistant to the director and his office is closer to Lin Wan’s.
It sounds a bit ridiculous. As an assistant to the director, not only did his academic qualifications fail to meet the company’s basic requirements, but even his major which was philosophy had nothing to do with finance.
Because he didn’t understand primary market investment, he suffered a lot in the first few months at work.
Most of the trouble was brought to him by Lin Wan.
Zhu Chizhou walked to his workstation, threw the car keys into the drawer, and when he looked up, he saw Lin Wan walking towards him.
【I’m so sleepy…I shouldn’t have drunk last night.】
Lin Wan’s voice flashed in his mind out of nowhere.
Colleagues greeted Lin Wan one after another. Zhu Chizhou was about to do the same when his eyes met Lin Wan’s. But, that voice interrupted him:
【Wow, shirts with this style really only looks good if you have muscles.】
Zhu Chizhou was stuck for a moment and opened his mouth but no words came out.
Lin Wan had already walked up to him, nodded to him, and said expressionlessly, “Good morning.”
Zhu Chizhou stared at Lin Wan’s eyes, which were as calm as a lake, and after a long while, he squeezed out a word from between his lips: “Good morning…”
Lin Wan didn’t say anything, his emotionless eyes fell on his face. Zhu Chizhou stared at Lin Wan blankly, and then heard another string of words:
【Why is this handsome guy being so silly today?】
Zhu Chizhou was startled and suddenly raised his voice: “Good morning!”
【…Good, very energetic.】
The cold expression on Lin Wan’s face did not change at all. Hee turned and walked towards his office, pushed open the glass door and walked in.
The director’s office is separated from the outside by transparent glass. Lin Wan is used to not pulling down the blinds, so Zhu Chizhou could clearly see his serious face and hardworking appearance when he looked up.
Sitting at his workstation felt no different from being in prison. Zhu Chizhou slowly turned on his computer, checked his email first, and then opened his calendar to see what he had to do today.
【To-do items: Summarize project materials and submit them to Risk Control before 11 o’clock】 But, Lin Wan is still reviewing the project materials.
Zhu Chizhou stood up and glanced towards the director’s office naturally. When he saw Lin Wan in his eyes, Lin Wan’s voice rang in his mind:
【What is Zhou Huang doing? He handed in the same exit strategy that I asked him to revise yesterday without making any changes? Is the photocopier the only thing he knows to use at work?】
Zhu Chizhou silently shifted his gaze away and quickly pushed the wheeled chair back by half a meter, just touching the back of Zhou Huang’s chair.
Zhou Huang was eating breakfast, with a circle of bread crumbs on his mouth. He turned around and looked at him: “What’s wrong?”
Zhu Chizhou asked quietly, “Have you finished revising the exit strategy in the report you were supposed to revise yesterday?”
Zhou Huang took a sip of coffee and swallowed the bread: “Yes, I’ve changed it. I put it on the boss’s desk yesterday afternoon.”
Zhu Chizhou: “Please confirm again.”
“No problem, I remember…” Zhou Huang muttered as he reached out to flip through the documents on the table, “Shit! I got it wrong!”
Zhou Huang stood up quickly, took a piece of tissue to wipe his mouth, picked up the latest version of the report and rushed straight to the director’s office.
Zhu Chizhou kicked his long legs and slid the chair back. The computer screen had automatically entered the screen saver mode, and an electronic wooden fish on it was knocking: Merit +1.
He could hear Lin Wan’s inner thoughts. This matter had been going on for more than half a month.
Although he had not fully adapted to it yet, his working life had become much easier after he gained this ability.
First of all, he finally figured out that Lin Wan, who had been causing trouble for him, didn’t know who his father was, nor was he an undercover agent sent by his father to trip him up. He was just a perfectionist who was too rigorous to be normal.
Secondly, for someone like Lin Wan who is very frugal with words, reading his mind directly is extremely efficient. Now Zhu Chizhou could cooperate with Lin Wan at work with ease.
Thirdly, if he didn’t look at Lin Wan, he wouldn’t hear Lin Wan’s thoughts, which would prevent him from accidentally hearing Lin Wan’s privacy. He had no intention of snooping into other people’s private lives, and he used this ability just to smoothly fulfill the agreement between him and his father.
Finally, he can also help others, just like now.
Like how Lin Wan reminded Zhou Huang several times yesterday afternoon that he must submit a perfect report before work today, otherwise he would miss the meeting. If he delays, the project might be snatched away by other institutions.
Originally, Lin Wan wanted to criticize him severely. Zhou Huang was no longer a newcomer and he couldn’t be so rash in doing things.
But Zhou Huang corrected the mistake in a timely manner, which showed that the first thing Zhou Huang did when he went to work in the morning was to review yesterday’s work which is a good habit.
“Well written.” Lin Wan encouraged, picked up the pen and signed her name.
Zhou Huang felt dizzy when he walked out of the office. He floated to Zhu Chizhou’s workstation, leaned on the partition, and said in disbelief, “Damn it, the boss didn’t scold me.”
Zhu Chizhou smiled slightly and said nothing.
Zhou Huang opened his small eyes wide and asked Zhu Chizhou: “Do you know what the boss said to me just now?”
Zhu Chizhou raised his eyebrows, “What did he say about you?”
“He said I wrote well,” Zhou Huang was immersed in the emotion of surviving a disaster, and was still a little dazed. “He didn’t scold me, and said I wrote well! I was almost scared to death when I walked in just now!”
“He’s not that scary,” Zhu Chizhou didn’t realize that he was speaking for Lin Wan. It felt as if he had completely forgot that half a month ago he was also scolded by Lin Wan every day. “He just doesn’t talk much and doesn’t like to laugh.”
Zhou Huang didn’t refute, and smiled and moved closer: “I was in a hurry to pick up my girlfriend yesterday, so I handed the file in without checking it. How did you know there was a problem with my report? Did you see it when you were sorting the materials?”
Zhu Chizhou didn’t say anything. Zhou Huang took it as his acquiescence and raised his hand to hit him on the shoulder. “Sure, you are getting better and better at work. You could figure out that I hadn’t changed. You are a genius in investment!”
Zhu Chizhou smiled modestly and said, “There is no such thing as a genius. I just spent the time that others spend on love on work.”
Just before getting off work in the afternoon, a startup company introduced by an acquaintance came to visit Lin Wan, and Lin Wan notified Zhu Chizhou to go with him to meet them.
Zhu Chizhou threw the car keys he had just put into his trouser pocket back into the drawer, picked up a notebook from the table, and walked towards the investment department’s meeting room.
The others had already arrived. Lin Wan was sitting at the conference table with his back to the floor-to-ceiling window, looking down at the other company’s business plan.
The half-frame gold-rimmed glasses he wore obscured his long, thin eyelashes, but made his complexion look even colder and paler. His cold expression, coupled with his overly delicate facial features, gave people a sense of inaccessibility and distance.
The founder was still talking nonstop, and the first thing Zhu Chizhou noticed was the eye-catching light pink cylindrical object on the conference table. He was suddenly shocked to find that the other party was the owner of a sex toy company.
The founder is Li Yanli, a middle-aged man with dark hair, wearing a light gray suit that didn’t fit him well.
Zhu Chizhou pulled out a chair and sat down a little further away from them.
It’s not like he hadn’t come across such companies before, but this is the first time that Zhu Chizhou had encountered a founder who brought such an explicit product and placed it in the middle of the conference table.
Lin Wan seemed to be very sexually apathetic. Zhu Chizhou knew that to Lin Wan, there was no difference between sex toys and cleaning products. In Lin Wan’s eyes, there was no difference between everything.
In Lin Wan’s eyes, they are only divided into those that could make money in the future and those that couldn’t.
Lin Wan would definitely not follow this project. Zhu Chizhou could completely guess what Lin Wan was thinking at the moment: the sex toys market is already very hot. In such a competitive field, any new company needs a unique competitive advantage to stand out. The products provided by this company do not have obvious innovative selling points and cannot be distinguished from existing competitors in the market.
He looked at Lin Wan, wondering if he had guessed Lin Wan’s opinion correctly, but he saw that Lin Wan was looking up at the pink object on the table, with his eyebrows slightly wrinkled above the frame.
【The diameter is over 5.5cm and the length is over 21cm. Will it be painful to use this size?】
